Pop a Squat!

We are caving in ever so slightly to the desires of locals. Just in time for the summer, we will be releasing our new beer, China Squat. We named it from the local custom of resting in public like you’re sitting over a squat toilet. In the same way, we want our beer to reflect this relaxing past time.

It’s a new style that we’re calling a China Red Lager. We’re looking to blend a combination between an easy drinking lager with some complexities, with the hoppiness that we crave.
To do this, we’re making a slightly roasty malt foundation that will have a red hue and fermenting it with a German lager yeast and some German bittering hops. This will give the beer a smoothness with a some complex honey and toffee notes and some grassy bitterness. To finish it up, we’re going to dry hop the bajeesus out of it with west coast hops so it remains unbittered, but will still have that hoppy juiciness.
Think of it like a West Coast India Pale Vienna Lager (that’s a mouthful).
Look for it in the bar this June!
